Anecortave acetate is a sterol lipid.1 It inhibits VEGF-induced increases in vascular generation, number, and length in isolated rat retinas when used at a concentration of 1 µM. Sub-tenon administration of anecortave acetate (7.5% w/v) prevents and reduces increases in intraocular pressure induced by prednisolone (Item No. 20866) in sheep.2 Subconjunctival administration of anecortave acetate (15% w/v), in combination with 2-deoxyglucose, decreases tumor growth in a Tg(TagRb)1Plm mouse model of retinoblastoma.3
