Kurarinone is a lavandulylated flavanone that has been found in S. flavescens and has diverse biological activities.1,2,3,4 It inhibits COX-1 and 5-lipoxygenase (5-LO; IC50s = 0.6-1 and 22 µM, respectively).1 Kurarinone inhibits LPS-induced nitric oxide (NO) production in RAW 264.7 cells (IC50 = 26.6 µM).2 It reduces potassium chloride- or norepinephrine-induced contractions in rat thoracic aortic helical strips when used at concentrations of 10 and 100 µM.3 In vivo, kurarinone (20 and 40 mg/kg) decreases disease severity and retinal neutrophil infiltration in a mouse model of experimental autoimmune uveitis induced by IRBP (1-20) (Item No. 36727).4
