    Product Description

    2,3-Dimercaptopropanesulfonate (DMPS) is a mercury chelator.1 It reduces renal mercury levels and increases urinary mercury levels in uninephrectomized- and normal rats administered mercuric chloride. DMPS (180 or 360 mg/kg per day for four days) inhibits methylmercury chloride-induced increases in embryotoxicity and fetal- and maternal death and decreases in fetal bone ossification in a mouse model of heavy metal-induced developmental toxicity when administered to pregnant mice.2
