    Mesembrenone is an alkaloid that has been found in S. tortuosum and has anticancer activity.1,2 It is selectively cytotoxic to MOLT-4 acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) cells over LMTK alveolar fibroblasts (EC50s = 0.6 and 10 µg/ml, respectively).2
