    Product Description

Angiopoietin-like 3 (ANGPTL3) is an angiopoietin-related protein involved in lipid metabolism.1,2 It is composed of a signal peptide, coiled-coil domain, linker region, and C-terminal fibrinogen-like domain.2,3 ANGPTL3 is expressed in adult liver and during embryonic development.3 It inhibits the activity of lipoprotein lipase and endothelial lipase, which increases plasma triglycerides and HDL-cholesterol (HDL-C) levels.4,5,6 Loss-of-function mutations in ANGPTL3 are associated with decreased risk of coronary artery disease, coronary atherosclerosis, or myocardial infarction.6 Formulations containing monoclonal antibodies targeting ANGPTL3 have been used in the treatment of homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia. Cayman’s ANGPTL3 (human, recombinant) protein consists of 215 amino acids and has a calculated molecular weight of 25.3 kDa. By SDS-PAGE, under reducing conditions, the apparent molecular mass of the protein is 36.9 kDa due to glycosylation.
