OBESITY RESEARCH SOLUTIONS3-O-methyl Estradiol is a synthetic estrogen.1 It disrupts microtubule networks in V79 Chinese hamster cells (EC50 = 9 µM) and inhibits the proliferation of the same cells by 92% when used at a concentration of 20 µM. 3-O-methyl Estradiol (25 mg in a 0.2 ml solution, p.o.) decreases serum cholesterol levels and increases body weight loss, indicating feminizing activity, in male rats fed a high-cholesterol diet.2 It has been used as a standard for the quantification of 17β-estradiol in hen urine.3
