BIO-5192 is an inhibitor of integrin α4β1, also known as very late antigen-4 (VLA-4; IC50 = 1.8 nM).1 It is selective for integrin α4β1 over the integrins α4β7, α9β1, and α2β1 (IC50s = >500, 138, and 1,053 nM, respectively). BIO-5192 (1 µg/ml) inhibits the adhesion of α4β1-expressing A20 cells to fibronectin-coated plates.2 It improves limb function in a rat model of experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE) induced by myelin basic protein (MBP) peptide when administered at a dose of 30 mg/kg twice per day.1
