Rosoxacin is a quinolone antibiotic.1 It is active against C. jejuni, S. boydii, S. dysenteriae, V. cholerae, and Y. enterocolitica (MIC50s = ≤0.25 mg/L for all). Rosoxacin (10 µM) inhibits IL-1 receptor-associated kinase 1 (IRAK-1) in vitro and suppresses the development of murine growth hormone-induced experimental autoimmune hypophysitis (EAH) in mice when administered at a dose of 200 µg/animal per day.2 Formulations containing rosoxacin have been used in the treatment of urinary tract infections and sexually transmitted diseases (STDs).
