OBESITY RESEARCH SOLUTIONSPTERi is an inhibitor of phosphotriesterase-related protein (PTER; IC50 = 830 nM for the human enzyme), an aminohydrolase involved in the metabolism of the anorexigenic metabolite N-acetyl taurine (Item No. 35169).1 It is selective for PTER over a panel of 13 histone deacetylases (HDACs) and sirtuins (SIRTs) at 100 µM but does inhibit HDAC8 and HDAC10 by >80% at 100 µM. Acute administration of PTERi (100 mg/kg) increases plasma N-acetyl taurine levels in lean and diet-induced obese (DIO) mice and chronic administration over four weeks decreases food intake and body weight in DIO mice. It also enhances loss of body weight and reductions in food intake induced by semaglutide (Item Nos. 40231 | 29969 | 40170) in DIO mice.
