Phosphatidylcholine (hydrogenated) (soy) (HSPC) is a hydrogenated glycerophospholipid derived from natural soy lecithin.1 HSPC has been widely used in the generation of liposomes.2,3,1 HSPC (1.25 wt% in the diet) decreases hepatic total lipid and cholesterol levels in mice fed a high-fat diet.4 Formulations containing HSPC have been used in cosmetic products as skin-conditioning agents and in the generation of liposomes for the delivery of anticancer and antifungal agents. This product contains phosphatidylcholine molecular species with primarily C16:0 and C18:0 fatty acyl chains.
