BSA-Adrenate Polyunsaturated Fatty Acid Complex (1.67 mM) is composed of adrenic acid (Item No. 90300) and fatty acid-free bovine serum albumin (BSA) at an approximately 2:1 molar ratio of adrenate:BSA. It was prepared under sterile conditions, then filtered and aliquoted into sterile vials. Cayman’s BSA-Adrenate Polyunsaturated Fatty Acid Complex (1.67 mM) can be used for efficient fatty acid delivery to cells in culture for the purpose of monitoring lipid metabolism and inflammatory signaling pathways.1,2 It can also be used to sensitize cells to ferroptosis via its incorporation into phosphatidylethanolamines (PEs) and subsequent oxidation to form pro-ferroptotic PE species.3 It is suitable for use in short- and long-term cell culture applications (25+ hours). For best results, it is recommended that this product be used in conjunction with Cayman’s BSA Control for BSA-Fatty Acid Complexes (5 mM) (Item No. 29556), prepared with fatty acid-free BSA.
