Hericenone C is a polyketide synthase-derived monoterpenoid originally isolated from H. erinaceum that has diverse biological activities.1,2,3,4 It acts as an antagonist of retinoic acid receptor-related orphan receptor α (RORα), reducing RORα-mediated reporter expression in RAW 264.7 cells.3 Hericenone C reduces levels of the inflammatory marker CD11c in RAW 264.7 macrophages at 40 µM. It inhibits the accumulation of CD11c+ cells at the formalin injection site and decreases formalin-induced paw licking in mice at 10 mg/kg.4
