Geranyl pyrophosphate is an intermediate in the mevalonate pathway. It is formed from dimethylallyl pyrophosphate (DMAPP; Item No. 63180) and isopentenyl pyrophosphate by geranyl pyrophosphate synthase.1 Geranyl pyrophosphate is used in the biosynthesis of farnesyl pyrophosphate (Item No. 63250), geranylgeranyl pyrophosphate (Item No. 63330), cholesterol, terpenes, and terpenoids.
