    Product Description

    Saikosaponin B1 is a triterpenoid saponin that has been found in B. chinense and has diverse biological activities.1,2,3 It is an agonist of the serotonin (5-HT) receptor subtype 5-HT2C (EC50 = 147.41 µM in HEK293 cells expressing the human receptor in a calcium mobilization assay).1 Saikosaponin B1 (100 µg/ml) stimulates prostaglandin E2 (PGE2; Item No. 14010) production in isolated rat peritoneal macrophages.2 It protects SH-SY5Y cells from hydrogen peroxide-induced cell death when used at a concentration of 50 µg/ml.3
