β-Cortolone is a metabolite of the glucocorticoid cortisol (hydrocortisone; Item No. 20739).1 It is formed from cortisol by 20β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase (20β-HSD) via a 5β-tetrahydrocortisol (Item No. 34195) intermediate. Urinary levels of β-cortolone are decreased in postmenopausal women with endometrial adenocarcinoma compared to postmenopausal women without endometrial adenocarcinoma.2
