R 396 is a peptide antagonist of the neurokinin-2B (NK2B) receptor (pA2 = 7.63).1 It is selective for the NK2B receptor over NK1, NK2A, and NK3 receptors (pA2s = <5, 5.41, and <5, respectively). Intracerebroventricular administration of R 396 (650 pmol/animal) inhibits increases in mean arterial blood pressure, heart rate, face washing, and grooming induced by neurokinin A (NKA) but not substance P (Item No. 24035) in conscious rats.2
