BM-531 is an antagonist of the thromboxane A2 (TXA2) receptor (TP receptor; IC50 = 0.0078 µM) and an inhibitor of thromboxane synthase.1,2 It inhibits the production of TXB2 by arachidonic acid-activated human platelets when used at concentrations of 1 or 10 µM.2 BM-531 prevents platelet aggregation induced by arachidonic acid (Item No. 90010; ED100 = 0.125 µM) and U-46619 (Item No. 16450; ED50 = 0.482 µM) in human citrated platelet-rich plasma.1 It also prevents collagen-induced platelet aggregation by 42.9% in human citrated platelet-rich plasma when used at a concentration of 10 µM. BM-531 reduces U-46619-induced fundus contractions in rats (ED50 = 1.5 µM) but not spontaneous contractions or those induced by prostaglandin E2 (PGE2; Item No. 14010), PGF2α (Item Nos. 16010 | 16020), or PGI2 (Item No. 18220).2
