BAY u9773 is a cysteinyl leukotriene 1 (CysLT1) and CysLT2 receptor antagonist.1 It inhibits contractions induced by leukotriene D4 (LTD4; Item No. 20310) or LTC4 (Item No. 20210) in isolated guinea pig trachea, rat lung, ferret spleen, and sheep bronchus (pA2s = 6.8-7.4). BAY u9773 (0.1 mg/kg) suppresses airway hypersensitivity and bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) eosinophil infiltration in a guinea pig model of ovalbumin-induced asthma.2 It also increases the latency to generalized seizures and decreases the EEG amplitude in a mouse model of seizures induced by pentylenetetrazol (PTZ; Item No. 18682).3
