Neural Mechanisms of Psychoactive Substances

Brochures

Psychoactive substances have profound effects on complex neural processes. They alter thoughts, mood, perception, and behavior, effects that underlie recreational drug use and substance use disorders. However, some psychoactive substances are emerging as promising therapies. Cayman offers a range of products to study the underlying neural processes mediating behavior in response to psychoactive substances.

Opioid Analytical Standards

Brochures

Cayman Chemical is dedicated to working with the forensic community to quickly make authentic reference standards available from our ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO 17034 laboratories. In response to the opioid epidemic, our catalog has expanded to now contain more than 730 opioid standards to help identify, confirm, and quantify these drugs of abuse. This includes a wide collection of fentanyls and other emerging synthetic opioids as well as plant-derived opiates and their metabolites and internal standards.

Hexahydrocannabinols (HHCs)

Brochures

Hydrogenation of tetrahydrocannabinols (Δ8- or Δ9-THC) leads to formation of a mixture of hexahydrocannabinols (HHCs) comprised of the 9(S)- and 9(R)-HHC diastereomers. These compounds retain some psychoactivity but avoid classification as THCs as well as any THC-related regulations. Separation of the HHC diastereomers is possible by chromatography (HPLC, GC), but identity can only be confirmed with verified reference standards. Cayman offers fully characterized reference standards to aid in the correct identification and differentiation of hydrogenated phytocannabinoids.

Mycotoxin Analytical Standards

Brochures

We understand that identifying mold and mycotoxins, such as aflatoxins and ochratoxin A, that can naturally contaminate hemp and Cannabis during its cultivation, transportation, storage, and even processing, is crucial to the assurance of your quality and safety testing. Linked to kidney and liver damage, reproductive disorders, and immune suppression as well as some being identified as potent carcinogens, mycotoxins are a known risk within the food safety industry. Cayman’s Mycotoxin Mixture CRM and single-component standards have been designed with consumer safety in mind to help you carry out mycotoxin analysis as part of your essential testing program.

Stimulant Analytical Standards

Brochures

Stimulants belong to a diverse group of psychoactive drugs whose function exerts a constant contribution to hyperactivity and impulse control. Illegal stimulant derivatives including amphetamines, arylcyclohexylamines, cathinones, cocaine/tropanes, phenethylamines, and piperazines are among the most widely abused across the US and Europe. However, the popularity of each substance, particularly in party culture settings, is frequently changing. Cayman offers more than 850 analytical standards for the identification of stimulants and is dedicated to working with the forensic community to quickly make reference standards available for new psychoactive substances (NPS).

Prescription and Illicit Drug CRMs

Brochures

Many analgesics clinically prescribed to manage chronic pain carry warranted concerns over safety and abuse liability. Further complications can arise from drug-drug interactions when stimulants or other illicit compounds are also abused. Cayman Chemical offers Certified Reference Materials (CRMs) to help identify, confirm, and quantify many of the major opioids, benzodiazepines, psychoactive drugs, and other controlled substances. Our CRMs meet ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO 17034 standards and are sold as quantitative solutions in sealed ampules.

Drug Metabolite CRMs

Brochures

Drug metabolites play a major role in identifying, confirming, and quantifying drugs of abuse. They are often the only remaining evidence of a rapidly metabolized drug, and their predictive fragmentation patterns provide much-needed clues for identifying unknowns. Cayman Chemical offers Certified Reference Materials (CRMs) for many of the major metabolites of opioids, benzodiazepines, stimulants, cannabinoids, and more. Our CRMs meet ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO 17034 standards and are sold as quantitative solutions in sealed ampules.
